ABOUT THE ARTIST
‘5 Fold the Mixtape Vol. 1’ is a compilation album that features Key, Lil Dscple, and A.Discyple. The three artists on the album are the “primary artists” on the 5 Fold Records label. Although each artist takes creative inspiration from a number of genres, all three combine a variety of stylistic elements to form their unique sounds; from Lil Dscple’s “edgy montage of styles”, A.Discyple’s “gritty nineties flavour”, to Key’s “soulful melodic sound”.
Each artist has a diverse range of experience in the music industry which adds to the authenticity and originality of this collaborative project; Key’s debut single ‘DOA’ dropped in 2019, A.Discyple has released a number of singles over the past few years, and Lil Dscple is a new up and coming artist who debuts on this album for the first time. With the intention of delivering “true Hip-Hop with Christ in the centre of it all”, this album attempts to push the expected limitations of their sound without losing their church following:
“It is...not too edgy that we lose the church but not too churchy that the average Hip Hop can’t bop too!”

Our featured album, ‘5 Fold the Mixtape Vol. 1’, is out now and available to stream on all major streaming platforms! The album lasts around forty-one minutes and consists of twelve tracks:
‘More Life’, ‘M!Ss.Understood’, ‘Gotta Bragg’, ‘So Good’, ‘Savage’, ‘Keep Ya Head Up’, ‘Mind Control’, ‘Dancing’, ‘Ballin’, ‘Cool’, ‘2020’, and ‘Bar Exam’.
All of the tracks feature either one or two of the named artists with the exception being the last track on the album: ‘Bar Exam’. This single features all three of the artists, lasts three minutes and fifty-eight seconds and sits at a steady 80bpm. The track commences with a twenty-four second introduction that features an ominous instrumental progression with free-flowing vocalisations; setting the tone for the first verse. The dynamic diversity, created by the combination of the varied vocal color of each artist, makes this track stand out with the memorable melodic hook ensuring you hit that repeat button for another listen when it draws to a close.
Although all of the tracks are technically grouped under the same genre classification, each song delivers a diverse range of compositional elements that showcase all three of the featured artist’s talent; from the memorable sung chorus and effortless rap that seamlessly synchronises with the flow of the steady percussive beat in ‘More Life’, the impressive lyricism, ambient synth progression and emotive vocal color of ‘Mind Control’, to the smooth electric guitar riff that adds a creative flare to the old-school Hip-Hop sound created by A.Discyple’s undeniable rapping talent in ‘Cool’.
