The new release ‘Coronavirus - You Won't Win!" (feat. rapper, FlipLock)’ from D.Rob, otherwise known as Darin Roberts, is the first single from String Kings Productions who have committed to donating half of every download to the North Louisiana United Way Emergency Response Fund for Corona - COVID 19. 

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Darin Roberts began performing music at the young age of seven in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania where he played guitar at his father’s church. Although Darin joined the military, he continued playing his guitar in various locations where he was stationed. Performing on stages stateside as well as in Kyrgyzstan and Afghanistan. 

After twenty-two committed years of active duty, Darin chose to remain in Shreveport, Louisiana with his wife Wanda and his two sons Micah and Bryce. They are a truly talented family across the board with Wanda featuring as the vocalist in the single and Micah, a drummer/bassist, co-producing the single. FlipLock, who happens to be Wanda’s brother, is also the featured rapper in the track.  

THE SINGLE

The single, aptly named ‘Coronavirus - You Won’t Win!’, addresses the global pandemic that as of April this year, has spread to two-hundred and four countries and has one-million confirmed cases sadly resulting in approximately fifty-three thousand deaths. 

In a time when fear and uncertainty are increasingly prevalent, this track offers a positive encouragement to the listener that this virus is an enemy of the people and ‘will not win’. Amidst the plethora of negative media inciting global anxiety, it is refreshing to see a family of musicians come together to bring a message of positivity and action through creativity. 

Although categorised under Christian and Gospel, the stylistic variability of the single incorporates a combination of blues, jazz, gospel, country and rap that uplifts the listener and provides an engaging yet powerful message.  

The two vocal performances in the track compliment each other perfectly with the vocal hook delivered by Wanda being undoubtably the melodic riff that’ll stick in your mind after the song is over. The rap performed by FlipLock directly addresses the virus and its intrusiveness into our lives with the line “you won’t win” bringing the composition to an uplifting crescendo of positivity.    

With an amazing fifty-percent of the download income going to a cause that supports those directly affected by the virus, this track is one that we should definitely support in this time of crisis.
