Dubgee - ‘Let The Music Heal Me’

Coming out of Vancouver, Canada, Dubgee is not only the rapper behind the hip-hop album ‘Truth’ (2019), he is also a producer, beat-maker, label owner, super villain (Doug Tree) and band member (Treetox). Deriving his compositional inspiration from real-world experiences including hockey riots, music festivals and municipal politics to name a few, Dubgee has written and produced five albums over the last twenty years.
Growing up, Dubgee discovered his personal passion for hip-hop beats when given access to new synths in the band room at his school. From this moment on, Dubgee has been writing and composing hip-hop/rap.
His previous release ‘Back on the Grind’ was the first official release from his own label Beast Van Records and features a co-written collaboration with Billy Botox. Produced by Dubgee, ‘Back on the Grind’ was released under the moniker of Doug Tree.
His most recent release, ‘Truth’ is the amalgamation of a decade of “individual songwriting, being a dad and a blue collar worker”.
Dubgee spent the summer promoting the new album alongside Doug Tree’s Billy Botox and also DJ Wunderkut. This latest single from the album, ‘Let The Music Heal Me’ features Tiago Vasquez and is produced by Dubgee.
The track itself feels like a legitament throwback to authentic hip-hop with a soulful yet memorable vocal line that will inevitably embed itself within your subconscious after a few listens. The overall composition of the track incorporates hip-hop beats, piano, vocalising harmonies, synth and of course the main man himself laying down verse after verse of lyrical poetry that flows effortlessly in-between the melodic breaks.
It has been announced that during 2020 Dubgee will be releasing an all new Redux version of his latest album ‘Truth’ so keep a look out for the release date coming soon!
