This track was written and recorded by G00DB0Y and produced by mixing engineer Chase Copley. The two minute and eighteen second single begins ominously with an atmospheric sound of what appears to be crickets outdoors, coupled with the feedback from a guitar jack being plugged in.
This six second prelude is proceeded by the lead vocal line that initiates an accompanying guitar that utilises plucked notation to build the instrumentation element of the track. At around the eighteen second mark, a percussive beat begins to create a build, sitting at a smooth 80bpm.
The main body of ‘Poisonous’ kicks in at 0:30 when the slightly distant vocal becomes notably more prevalent in the mix. The addition of a foundational sub-bass layered with a more expansive beat creates a depth to the alternative sound. The line, “Don’t fall in-love, I’m poisonous” perfectly captures the tone of this track, with the bittersweet theme of love and loss emanating throughout the lyrical story.
