ABOUT THE ARTIST
John Alpha is a gospel artist from Sierra Leone in West Africa, who first burst onto the music scene in 2016. He began singing when he was a child, performing with his friends who would use broken pans, old tins and dust bins gathered from the street to accompany his vocal. After joining his church choir, John Alpha honed his vocal skill and eventually became a praise and worship leader. His debut studio album, ‘Cheat On Me’, was recorded in 2001 at Malgo Records, Sierra Leone.

This attitude and purposefulness behind his music was shown by his song ‘One Love’ which was released during the 2018 presidential and general elections in Sierra Leone. In 2016, John Alpha was featured in the African Young Voices Television (AYV) Cypher uncensored Season 1 show where he achieved the position as one of the finalists. In 2019, John Alpha performed alongside Markmuday, one of Sierra Leone’s most famous stars, and resultantly was asked to host the Hip-Hop/Rap show Murder My Beats on FTN TV and later called to host the same show on SLBC TV.
