ABOUT THE ARTIST
MAKIS is an artist, musician and writer, originally from Australia, who currently resides in San Francisco, California. To date, he has released two singles, ‘In Time’ (2018), and ‘Goodbye Angels’ (2019), as well as four full albums: ‘2x-Trim 4u’ (2003), ‘Robot Archives’ (2005), ‘ΦΟΙΝΙΞ’ (2018), and our featured album ‘Down Under’ (2020).

The title track, ‘Down Under’, lasts four minutes and thirty-four seconds and sits at a steady 110bpm. The opening forty-three seconds combine a variety of panned instrumental sounds, including the iconic didgeridoo, with artistically edited vocalisations; setting the tone for the proceeding beat whilst also maintaining an element of mystery as to which direction the melodic flow of the single will progress. The lead vocal line, sits prominently in the mix amidst the plethora of eclectic sounds. A powerful vocal sample instigates at the 2:49 mark with intentional moments of dissonance being utilise to add to the eclectic nature of the composition.
