FEATURED RELEASE
Our featured release, ‘The Radium Girls’ by Margarita Shamrakova, is out now and is available on YouTube! This project is based on the employees who worked as dial painters for watches in radium factories back in the 1920s in NJ, NY, Chicago and Ottawa. Believing that radium was in fact beneficial as it was used to fight cancer, radium was used in watches, skincare, children’s sandboxes, milk, water and clothing. The book The Radium Girls by Kate Moore sparked the inspiration to begin work on this project. The instrumental is available now on Margarita Shamrakova’s YouTube channel.
“I want to share their story with as many people as possible because those girls cannot speak anymore.”
The instrumental lasts three minutes and eight seconds and sits at a steady 125bpm. The amalgamation of stylistically effected vocals, melodic violin, foundational drum/bass, subtle piano and gentle strings create a sound that is creative and unique to Margarita Shamrakova’s compositional style. The memorable melodic hook of the violin captures the emotion behind the track whilst also providing a melody that will make the listener want to play this release on repeat.
Fans of Margarita Shamrakova, as well as those who appreciate new and creative music, will definitely want to hear this track. Make sure you follow Margarita Shamrakova on Spotify and SoundCloud to keep up to date with upcoming releases!
