ABOUT THE ARTIST
r&r is an up and coming Chicago based electronic artist who is set to drop his forth release on the thirty-first of October. Discovering his interest for music as a child, r&r would record mixes from a boom box in the backseat of his mother’s station wagon. After learning how to play drums in his early teens, r&r bought his first sampler at the age of seventeen and began his journey into electronic music. Recording “people on the streets, searching for tones and frequencies”, r&r honed his compositional abilities by incorporating his percussive background to create his unique sound.
“Sharing this music with an audience becomes a personal endeavor that brings those dark, hidden times of my life to light. Which in turn, of course, becomes extremely gratifying.”
r&r has performed at a variety of places including venues in Chicago, Puerto Rico, New Orleans and Saint Petersburg FL. In addition to recording and performing, r&r also shoots all of is own videos and creates his own artwork. r&r is also involved in the project Sister/Brother where he plays “alongside a classically trained stand-up bassist [by] adding percussion to the set up…usually structured around a storyline”.
To date, r&r has three releases in his online discography — one album: ‘Euphoria’ (2019), one EP: ‘So So…’ (2020), and his latest single ‘Rip D.C’ (2020). Some of r&r’s most popular tracks include ‘So So…’, amassing over six thousand streams, and ‘Rip D.C’, with more than two thousand streams on Spotify alone, in spite of its recent release.

The single instigates with an atmospheric sound that gradually increases in intensity, with the implementation of additional electronic elements, to form a dark melodic tone that permeates throughout this single.
