ABOUT THE ARTIST
Rootspence & The Groove Makers is an up an coming group that burst onto the streaming scene in 2020 with their debut album ‘Judgement Day’. Lead singer Rootspence, also known as Helio Sixpence, is a singer/songwriter who was born in Malawi but lives in Mozambique. The rising artist has a plethora of accolades from his work in the music industry; 2020 WAM Award Nominee (Best Reggae Music), and seven-time Reverb Nation Featured Artist.
The Groove Makers were formed back in 2015 by Helio “Rootspence” Sixpence in Maputo, Mozambique. Although the band receives creative inspiration from a number of styles that include Hard Rock, Gospel, Afro-fusion, Kizomba, Jazz and Hip-Hop, The Groove Makers combine a variety of compositional elements to form their unique sound. The band consists of seven members: Roots (Helio Sixpence) – songwriter, composer and vocals, Snake (Horacio Muiambo) – Bass, Lithos (Carlos Macaringue) – Guitars, Landos (Orlando Mondlane ) – Drums, Jermila (Jeremias Matoio) – Percussion, Young Eddy (Edson Mabuiango) – Keyboards, and Miranda dos Santos (Mira) – Backing Vocals.
To date, Rootspence & The Groove Makers have one album in their online discography.
