ABOUT THE ARTIST
Rtxstjlee, also known as Jeramie Mathis, is a twenty-eight year old musician/singer-songwriter who was born and raised in Southeast Georgia and now resides in Jacksonville. Rtxstjlee’s first introduction to the music industry came back in 2015 when he recorded a number of Hip-Hop freestyle videos that included ‘Intro’, ‘Heartless’, and ‘Freeverse’. Two years later, Rtxstjlee began working on what would eventually materialise as his debut EP: ‘Greatest Ambition’, which dropped at the start of 2018. Since then, Rtxstjlee has been working on his Sophomore project that is aptly named: ‘M.I.N.D (Moving in New Directions)’.
To date, Rtxstjlee has one EP and two singles released on his online discography: ‘Greatest Ambition’ (2018), ‘No Cap’ (2019), and ‘Onmywy’ (2020). Some of his most successful tracks include ‘Onmywy’ and ‘No Cap’, amassing thousands of streams on Spotify alone. With one successful single already released in 2020, and one more single to be released later this month, it’s fair to say that Rtxstjlee has unquestionably established himself as an up and coming artist to keep an eye on over the course of this year.

Our featured single, ‘MZMRIZD’ by Rtxstjlee, is to be released on the twenty-first of August and will be available to stream on all major streaming platforms! The single lasts three minutes and twenty seconds and sits at a steady 126bpm. The track commences with a fourteen second introduction that layers subtle synth/sub-bass instrumentation that gradually increases in volume to create a partial crescendo; setting the melodic tone for the proceeding verse.
Rtxstjlee’s vocal color is stylistic and emotive whilst maintaining a dynamic diversity that flows with the instrumentation. A steady percussive beat and powerful sub-bass kick in at around the thirty second mark; pushing the rhythmic intensity as the track progresses. The implementation of subtle vocal harmony layers adds a creative flare to the sound that provides a depth to Rtxstjlee’s main vocal; check out 1:00 to 1:06.
Although the beat/sub-bass combination pushes the intensity of the single, the momentary absence of the percussion (see 1:46) allows the showcasing of Rtxstjlee’s vocal as it sits more prominently in the mix. The ominous synth progression, coupled with the plethora of seamlessly synchronised instrumental layers, amalgamate to form a memorable melodic hook that will definitely stick within the minds of anyone who listens to this single.
Rather than finish the track with the more predictable repetition of a chorus, Rtxstjlee chose to go with yet another creative expression of his compositional talent with the utilisation of an effected vocal and a melodic shift from the 2:32 mark; leading to a gradual diminuendo-styled instrumental outro.
