The Brilliance are a musical collective that are creating art with the specific intention of being counter cultural. ‘Suite No. 2 World Keeps Spinning; An Antidote to Modern Anxiety’ is the second full-length record released by The Brilliance who consist of two members: David Gungor and John Arndt. 

As fate would have it, the fathers of both band members performed in a wedding band in the ’70s and evidently sparked the long held brotherly bond between David and John. Throughout their time at college, they created music in a variety of different bands. Eventually, David felt the desire to write original music, so he sent some ideas to Arndt and The Brilliance were born with a contribution from an ensemble of musical friends to provide additional instrumentation. 

The band are inspired by neoclassical music and have developed their own unique sound based upon a foundation of piano and string arrangements and resultantly, do not follow the typical pop song formation that is so prevalent in mainstream popular music. 

Their latest release: ‘Suite No. 2 World Keeps Spinning; An Antidote to Modern Anxiety’, has been dubbed as a classically-inspired concept album that has been released as part two of a series of ‘Suites’ that are focused on themes that encapsulate modern anxiety and the search for acceptance and unity.    

Created in collaboration with Biola University Orchestra and Chorus, this most recent release from The Brilliance has an unquestionably unique sound that utilises diverse creative influences from Jon Brian and The Beatles to Bach and Stravinsky. 

The first ‘Suite’ has already achieved millions of streams on Spotify and Apple Music as an independent release with over 3.2 million listeners and 13.7 million streams on Spotify in 2019. Having performed for the MET’s Charity Water Gala and also at global festivals reaching as far as Australia, Israel, New Zealand, Sweden and Palestine.
