ABOUT THE ARTIST

VDXi is a rising artist who burst onto the streaming scene roughly ten years ago. Having always had a natural affinity for music, VDXi is completely self-taught; initially learning simple Bach melodies by ear instead of reading music. Although he receives creative inspiration from a number of artists such as Vangelis, JMJ, Enya, and Abba, VDXi combines a variety of compositional elements using multiple keyboards, pedals and music software to form his unique sound.

To date, VDXi has thirty-three tracks in his SoundCloud discography. Some of his most popular tracks include the likes of ‘A Greek In Vienna by Fivos Valachis (orchestrated by VDX)’, amassing six thousand plays, ‘Moving On’, gathering over two thousand five hundred plays, and ‘Vulnerable Rebellion’, with over one thousand two hundred plays. With numbers like that on SoundCloud alone, there is no denying the fact that VDXi is developing a dedicated following of loyal fans.

FEATURED RELEASEs

Our featured tracks, ‘Vulnerable Rebellion’, ‘Fractured Laguna’ and ‘Aging in Native America’ by VDXi, are out now and available to stream soundcloud!

Melodic Instrumental Rock Playing with Electric Guitar "generators". Trying to take it more seriously. This is everything but my usual :) I think I started with this one long ago. Finding hard time to finish stuff nowadays.

Vulnerable Rebellion’ lasts around five and half minutes and sits at 108bpm. The track was written in one take and was played “one hundred times until it worked”. The single commences with a forty-two second introductory section that features angelic vocalisations with cinematic strings; setting the melodic tone for the rest of the single whilst also creating some impressive dynamic diversity when contrasted with the proceeding section.

A foundational electric guitar riff takes the prominent position in the mix from around the 0:43 mark. A second palm-muted electric guitar layer holds the rhythmic intensity of the instrumentation while the lead guitar transitions through various melodic riffs. With the vocal line instigating one final time for the outro section, this track will having you humming along with the riff and in need of hitting that repeat button for another listen.

A one-shot burst from precisely a year ago. Distant, simple and spacey.

Fractured Laguna’ lasts two and a half minutes and sits in at around 67bpm. The track begins with a clean guitar progression that has a partial reverb; adding to the ambient quality of the production. A single strings line is gradually filtered into the mix and adds a fullness to the sound without dominating the guitar. With the lead guitar holding the main melody for the entirety of this piece, the smooth flow of the seamlessly synchronised and relatively stripped back instrumental layers forms an almost cinematic experience for the listener.

Played on a gray and cold day. Created to be used for KVR's Music Cafe: November Contest 2019 Main melody shot in one take, perhaps repetitive due to some unfilled inspiration tanks. Lead based on a CS-80 type replica of a Vangelis sound. Some flutes to fill the space and various Korg M1 sound FX in the background. Some Choral color added and as well as some emulation of "analogue" bass.

Aging in Native America’ lasts almost five minutes and has a flowing tempo that moves with each section of the piece. The track features a plethora of instrumental layers that amalgamate to form an etherial yet uplifting melody. The implementation of subtle effects, check out 0:35 to 0:38, showcases VDXi’s creative production skill whilst also complementing the overall sound of the track. The highlight of ‘Aging in Native America’ is definitely the impressive wind instrumentation that suits the theme of the single perfectly. The main melody was shot in a single take and captures VDXi’s moving performance.

From the well balanced production to the creative compositional arrangements, fans of VDXi, as well as those who appreciate new and creative music, will definitely want to check out all three singles. Hi. I'm VDX I'm into electronics, microtechnology and programming. By coincidence, also a self-thought musician. I like to use a computer to virtually make all the instruments I can't afford or don't have enough time to learn to play. I sometimes get inspired by Vangelis (would be a dream to be able to replicate his sound), Jean Michel Jarre, Alan Parsons, Enya.
