CIAA Black Mermaids and Hans Christian Andersen’s Granddaughter Meet at ‘The Little Mermaid’ Movie Screening
At the recent screening of 'The Little Mermaid' movie, an enchanting trilogy of creativity took place, combining a movie, a book, and a song: the CIAA Black Mermaids and the granddaughter of Hans Christian Andersen, the iconic original author, came together to celebrate this time-honored tale. The event, a magical experience hosted by RoyalTy iS Black, LLC in partnership with Towson Black Alumni Alliance, was aimed at enchanting potential future Tigers.
The Black Mermaids' children’s book 'Topaz's First Integration' is more than a literary journey, it serves as a powerful tool for instilling self-esteem in young Black girls, specifically within the age group of 0 to 6 years. Crafted with vibrant art and academia, the book illuminates how children can navigate new environments, drawing on the real-life experiences of co-author and education consultant, Dr. Jaky B.
Ms. Kendra Banks, co-author of the book The Black Mermaid Topaz’s First Integration and the singer-songwriter on the children’s song Flow Those ABC’s had this to say:
All proceeds from the book and its accompanying song contribute to the educational channel www.theBlackMermaids.com, offering a treasure trove of free resources aimed at bolstering the self-esteem of Black girls. It's a noble cause well worth supporting.
