ABOUT THE ARTIST
Coming from a British-Nigerian background, E.J discovered her love for singing at the young age of 14. Initially discouraged by peers who underestimated her vocal talents, a neighbor’s compliment ignited a spark that led her to join her church choir but E.J’s journey wasn’t without challenges. Starting off shy and overwhelmed by the thousands in the congregation, she gradually found her footing, transitioning from a choir member to a leading soloist. This transformation marked the beginning of embracing her passion for music.
E.J’s decision to join the choir not only bolstered her confidence but also honed her skills in voice training, duet singing, and audience engagement. Beyond her choir days, which spanned from her teenage years into university, she seized an opportunity to join the Nigerian National Theater troop. This stint in theater saw her embracing the spotlight in leading roles, showcasing her growing talent to captivated audiences.
Songwriting came naturally to E.J with melodies and lyrics flowing effortlessly. Inspired by a variety of artists, from gospel to pop icons like Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, and contemporary stars like Lady Gaga and The Weeknd, her musical interests are as diverse as they are influential. However, the routine life of a 9-5 job briefly diverted her from her creative pursuits.
