ABOUT THE ARTIST
Jaye Reaves is a new artist who is releasing his debut EP on the 2nd of July this year. Having always had a natural affinity for music, the California based singer/songwriter honed his craft over the years to become the artist that he is today.
Jaye began making music around the end of 2017 and immediately felt the call to record his original material. Drawing from his own personal life experience, Jaye Reaves channels his creative energy to capture real emotion.

Although he receives creative inspiration from a number of styles such as Hip Hop, Rock, Pop and Jazz, Jaye Reaves combines a variety of compositional elements to form his unique sound. Some of Jaye’s biggest musical influences include the likes of FKJ, Masego, Frank Ocean, Steve Lacy, Tyler the Creator and Lindecis.
The soon to be released EP, ‘THE COME UP’, was written about the past six years of Jaye’s life; from the time he moved from “Virginia to LA, relationship issues, finding direction, and making changes to [his] life in order to pursue what [he] loves more than just about anything at this point”. Three of the tracks also feature Jaye’s wife Amoreé.

‘THE COME UP’ by Jaye Reaves, is out July 2nd and will be available to stream on all major streaming platforms! The album consists of six tracks and lasts around sixteen minutes.
The title track, ‘The Come Up’, lasts just over two and half minutes and sits at a steady 110bpm. The track commences with a seventeen second introductory section that sets the tone for the piece. The subtle addition of the whispered line “the come up”, adds a creative flare to the overall experience. The instrumentation gradually becomes more full as the single progresses; seamlessly synchronizing numerous musical elements to form a singular sound that will keep you engaged from start to finish. The brass layers sit prominently in the mix and are a standout element in this track.
Although ‘THE COME UP’ is technically grouped under one genre classification, each track delivers a diverse range of compositional elements that showcase Jaye Reaves’ songwriting talent; from the ethereal layers that are dynamically panned to create the immersive experience of ‘LA Fusion’, the eclectic instrumental progression that has a free-flowing and spontaneous quality in ‘Don’t Settle’, to the impressive rap and soulful vocal color of the chorus in ‘The Opening feat. Amoreé’.
