ABOUT THE ARTIST

Born in the vibrant city of New Orleans and later moving to Tennessee, Kurt Hagardorn’s musical roots were planted early. As a teenager, he made his initial mark with the band Brian and the Nightmares, a group that brought their distinct sound to venues across the South and Midwest in the late 1980s.

The 1990s saw Kurt exploring new musical avenues. He formed Gumption alongside Gary Miller and made a significant move to Chapel Hill, NC, in 1994. Gumption made a brief but notable impact with a single and an EP, but eventually parted ways. This transition marked a new phase for Kurt as he became a sought-after guitarist, lending his talents to country artists like Thad Cockrell and Caitlan Cary.

Kurt’s solo ambitions took shape slowly but surely. He dedicated six years, from 2000 to 2006, to meticulously crafting his solo album while settling into his new home in Portland, OR. The result was his debut solo album, Ten Singles, a collection that finally saw the light of day on July 24, 2007, thanks to Portland's Bladen County Records.

With two albums and four singles currently gracing his Spotify discography, Kurt has shown his enduring appeal in the indie pop scene. His track Leaves stands out, having gathered over ten thousand streams on Spotify.
