ABOUT THE ARTIST

The MC Type, an American rapper, singer, and comedian now based in New Zealand, blends sharp wit with satirical lyricism in a style reminiscent of Atmosphere with a dash of South Park’s irreverence. Renowned for his audacious song concepts and uproariously funny music videos, The MC Type’s work challenges the boundaries of conventional rap with his unique blend of humor and critique.

During his most prolific years between 2007-2014 in Seattle, WA, The MC Type was at the forefront of the underground rap scene. He went on national tours, opening for notable artists like Prof, Grieves, and Mac Lethal, and was a key member of The Let Go, a rap group that not only signed with Camobear Records and Goon Trax but also charted on CMJ and secured a song placement on MTV's The City.

After stepping away from music to forge a career in TV commercial writing, The MC Type is making a thunderous return with Lucky Silverback. This album is a provocative statement against the censorial tides of cancel culture, featuring collaborations with influential artists such as Sage Francis, Blueprint, Grieves, Louis Logic, and P.O.S. With Lucky Silverback, The MC Type reaffirms his role as an unapologetic voice in the industry, ready to challenge societal norms while entertaining his audience with a mix of humor and hard-hitting rap.
