ABOUT THE ARTIST

Hailing from Sydney, Extra Time is a band that resonates with the heart and soul of classic music. They bring to mind the legendary sounds of Sting, Pink Floyd, Steely Dan, and Supertramp, yet they carve out their own unique space in the music world. Formed from a bond that took root in their school days, the members of Extra Time have matured into a formidable writing and performing unit, balancing their individual local and international careers with the band’s creative aspirations.

The band’s first album, released just before the global upheaval caused by COVID-19, was a testament to their talent, gathering impressive streaming figures and TV sync activity. Now, after a four-year hiatus, Extra Time is back, channeling their experiences and stories into twelve new tracks that made the cut for their latest album.

The recording process of their new album, done at Damien Gerard Studio in Gosford, Australia, was an organic and raw experience. The band stuck to a few foundational principles: no reliance on digital crutches like samples, click tracks, or auto-tune. The result is a collection of songs that were all performed live by musicians, capturing the essence of their creativity and the fun they had during the process. They’ve stayed true to their vision of creating a rich sound that pays homage to the great records of their musical heroes.

Extra Time’s commitment to authentic music production shines through in their latest album, Songs with Long Titles. The album is a culmination of their experiences and musical evolution, recorded entirely to 2” tape before being digitized, ensuring that the warmth and authenticity of their sound were preserved.

With two albums now in their discography and increasing popularity, as evidenced by their track Where Is The Light which has amassed over twelve thousand streams on Spotify, Extra Time is steadily building a dedicated fan base. Their latest offering is a journey through the lives and musical souls of its creators, waiting to be discovered by both old fans and new. As they continue to evolve and grow, Extra Time is undoubtedly a band to watch.
