ABOUT THE ARTIST
The Heard Eye sprang to life as a collaborative remote recording project during the Covid-19 lockdown, a testament to creativity in the face of adversity. Trumpeter and vocalist Paul Schneider, rejuvenated by reconnecting with his long-time friend and acclaimed drummer Atma Anur who is now based in Europe, discovered a renewed enthusiasm for songwriting. Prompted by Atma’s question about new material, Paul confirmed he had been composing new songs, sparking the beginning of what would become a dynamic musical venture.
Bringing in guitarist Hannes De Kassian, who had previously explored jazz and funk in California’s North Bay Area with Paul, the trio set about creating their debut album, Funkalypse. They leveraged the power of digital collaboration, exchanging tracks across continents and inviting a host of musicians to add their flair to the mix. With the early release of four tracks as an EP in Spring 2023, The Heard Eye made a significant impact on college and non-commercial radio stations, achieving numerous adds and receiving widespread play.
