As far back as his kindergarten days in Yeshiva, illectronic remembers hearing “cheap live bands” that would come and play classic Jewish music on “illectronic instruments”. Naturally interested in music, illectronic went on to sing along with the musicians who visited his school, developing his talent for vocals and understanding of musicality.

As illectronic got older, his interest in bands like Nirvana and Metallica opened up his musical interest to a wide variety of genres until one day illectronic heard his first electronic record at the age of thirteen. From then on, illectronic was captivated by this genre and used his brother’s ID to get into clubs and immersive himself in the culture of that style of music. 

After learning about the industry from his observation, illectronic began venturing into the realm of songwriting, forming baselines and melodies that he would use as a foundation for his own creative compositions. Initially, illectronic would mix and master all of his own original work before sending it out to curators.

Aside from his family, illectronic’s main inspiration comes from JP (Jonathan Peters) who inspired him to be a DJ, particularly after he attended his very first club, Arena, and heard Luz Divina live when JP was doing her productions. Through observing JP, illectronic learned that unreleased tracks are loved by true music fans, inspiring him to create his own original music. This propelled illectronic to pursue becoming a DJ which is now essentially his full-time profession.

Although he receives inspiration from a number of artists, illectronic combines a variety of compositional elements to form his unique and authentic experimental sound that he describes as having a “melancholy or dark feel”. Despite his current stylistic choices, illectronic plans to create some happier tracks for upcoming festivals after being inspired by the relationship he has with his wife Asya and son Ezra.

“I will endeavour to spend more time with [my wife and son]…to get some happy EDM going that is aggressive, fierce, and loving.”
